Demita Vega and David Mier, who have represented Mexico at the Olympic Games, conquered the top spots and showed that they are in great shape for the 2011 Pan-American Games.

The male Mexican team included very good performances by Mauricio Martinez and Isaías Minor, who are both aiming to compete at the 2011 Junior Worlds in San Francisco, USA.

In the female fleet Dominique Vallee (CAN) had to settle with the silver medal, but has one more chance to prove herself in the Pan-American Games.

Vega had an impressive performance, winning every single race and Vallee will need to perform much better if she wants to replicate the gold medal result she got at the 2007 games.

The Techno 293 competition, held during the same days, showed that there is a healthy new breed of windsurfers who are now racing in the class of the Youth Olympics in order to move to the senior fleets of the RS:X.

The 2011 Techno 293 Worlds will be hosted alongside the RS:X Junior Worlds with a lot of competition expected.

After dominating the three day regatta held at Cozumel, Mexico the host nation proved that it is a significant power in the RS:X fleets of North America.
