Thousands of sailors on more than 100 sailboats are expected to race in the narrow waterway separating the continents of Europe and Asia.

For the competitors and the many spectators, who will be able to view most of the racing from the high vantage points over-looking the Bosphorus, the city of Istanbul is a true destination. For centuries the city has prospered and grown as a trading area between Europe and Asia.

The beauty of Istanbul is world-renowned. Many of the world's great architectural treasures are here, epitomized by Hagia Sophia, one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. The city provides one of the most picturesque sites in yacht racing with the Topkapi Palace, Beylerbeyi Palace, and many other stunning sites in the background.

On the hospitality side, hotels and restaurants on the shore are packed with guests who have come to watch the sailboats competing on the Bosphorus, a waterway usually busy with tanker traffic. The sponsors are very keen on putting together Bosphorus Cup corporate hospitality packages, which will include corporate lunch events.

The organizers of the Bosphorus Cup are the Marmara Sailing Club, Dragos Sailing Club, the Bosphorus University Sailing Club of Istanbul and ORG Sports Marketing. Racing on the Bosphorus takes place on Saturday May 29th, followed by a distance race to the famous Princess Island on May 30th. The sailors will gather for the awards ceremony on Sunday evening at the Marmara Yelken Kulübü, one of the oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs in Turkey.
