Court of Arbitration for Sport Upholds WADA Appeal Against Team Alinghi Sailor

With the support of ISAF, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld the appeal filed by the World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) in a case involving Simon DAUBNEY from New Zealand, a member of Team Alinghi during the 32nd America's Cup.

As a consequence of the CAS decision, ISAF has suspended Simon DAUBNEY for a period of two years, starting from 14 July 2007. The CAS Panel accepted that Mr DAUBNEY voluntarily put on hold his career and has refrained from participating in any official competitions since that date.

This CAS decision concerns Simon DAUBNEY as an individual athlete and does not affect the results obtained by Team Alinghi during the 32nd America's Cup.

ISAF Secretary General Jerome PELS said, "We are delighted with the outcome of the CAS Hearing. ISAF's Anti-Doping Programme seeks to preserve what is intrinsically valuable about the spirit of sport; it is the essence of Olympism and how we play true. Doping is fundamentally contrary to the spirit of sport."
