Kaklamanakis (GRE) Drops to Second

Mistral World Championship and Olympic Qualification Regatta
Pattaya

The wind took time to build and settle today but by 1430hrs racing was underway. The women were called to start first and after one general recall were soon racing in a good 8-9knot breeze.
Faustine Merret (FRA) was first to mark 1 and was never headed from there on. Sandrine Nuvolone (FRA) rounded 2nd but had been called OCS so lost her place to country woman Lise Vidal who finished 2nd just in front Sheena McKinnon (NZL). The word before the regatta started was that Sheena could show a real turn of speed and this 3rd place is the proof. Meanwhile Barbara Kendall (NZL) was playing the averages back in 8th place and maintains her overall lead, slightly reduced to six points

Nikos Kaklamanakis (GRE) had a bad one today and finished 14th. Ricardo "Bimba" Santos (BRA) had a great race to finish 2nd and jump from 4th to 2nd equal on the same points as Nikos. Jon Paul Tobin (NZL) finally demonstrated what he is capable of by winning the only race of the day by a long way. He must be pleased that he is at least in the top 20 overall but is still at least 10 places below where a betting man would guess he should be.

The strong wind specialist Przemyslaw Miarczynski (POL) finished 3rd so he can deliver in semi planing conditions as well. He just has to overcome the mental block more regularly to ensure the top 5 ranking his talent deserves.

All this sees Gal Fridman (ISR) returned to the top spot after finishing 4th today. Racing continues till Sunday.
