Angostura Tobago SailWeek
Tobago

In splendid conditions of non stop sunshine and winds of about 20 knots the competitors had a perfect end to a perfect Angostura SailWeek
Barbadian yacht Blazin the Beneteau 10m owned and skippered by Peter BURKE finished sixth on the fnal day but that was good enough to take the overall Racing Class win whilst Les CROUCH's Storm finished second to take second overall with High Tension Lucozade finishing third overall.

There were two major incidents on the final day. The first was to Enzyme the Henderson 35 lying in just four points off the lead. The chances of challenging the topspot were blown when the suffered a broken mast. The other yacht to suffer some damage was in the Cruising Class. Chris MAYHEW's C&C 36 Blurred Vision broke its boom but were able to complete the final race. The Cruising Class was won by Lloyd de ROCHE on a San Juan 34 Nirvana.

The other class winners were the John CLOUSTON Hunter 33 from Scotland in the Comfort category; skipper Colin RUDGE (GBR) aboard the Jenneau 51 Annie T in the Charter; and Barbadian vessel Rapajam, the Ralph JOHNSON-captained Beneteau 53f5.

The week wound up with the prize giving and buffet in the grounds of the Crown Point Hotel with the Communications Marketing Manager of Angostura handing out the spoils of victory with a representative of the Tobago Assembly who had also supported the event

Whilst the regatta is not the largest on the Caribbean circuit it does boast a reputation of being the friendliest regatta in the Caribbean. In 2006 the Angostura Tobago SailWeek is scheduled May 14-19.
