The 15th Asian Games would be TAY's third, he won a bronze medal at the 1998 Asian Games and finished fifth at the 2002 Asian Games.

'I'm very honoured to be given the chance to fly Singapore's flag at the Asian Games. I'm also surprised to be chosen as there are many suitable candidates from other sports whom I hold in high regard. I hope this would help bring increased attention to sailing. I look forward to represent Singapore at the upcoming Games and will do my very best.' said TAY.

A Great Opportunity

Andrew SANDERS, SingaporeSailing's Executive Director and Sailing Team Manager for the Asian Games, said, 'This is a great opportunity for Roy and for sailing in general. We have been working hard for the past six years to develop local Singaporean talent with Roy being in the first wave of talented sailors with more to come in the years ahead. Roy has been a key player in the team for the past eight years. This is a great honour for him to carry Singapore's flag at the 15th Asian Games, which will be Roy's third Asian Games appearance.'

The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Doha's Khalifa Stadium on 1 and 15 December respectively. The 14 sailing events take place from 5-14 December.
