Laser North American Championship
Westport, Connecticut

After suffering through yet another foggy and calm morning, a 5-8 knot SSW breeze finally filled in as the sky started clearing yesterday.
After two general recalls, the full rig fleet finally got a start, only to see a huge shift to the NW just after the second mark that prompted abandonment.

The course was reset as the NW breeze quickly built to more-than-interesting levels. Two breezy races were run in fantastic conditions that, after an hour plus beat back to the club, left more than a few sailors sore. Very much the tough week with lots of effort invested in a relatively small amount of sailing, but at least the sailing that was had was great!

Winner in the 94 boat Laser (full rig) fleet, which carried ISAF Grade 1 Ranking Points, was Australian Brendan CASEY with a 1,2 over Canadian Bernard LUTTMER and Brad FUNK from Florida. Top CPYC finisher was Marc JACOBI in eighth. Results for Laser (full rig) fleet.

The 55 boat strong Radial rig fleet was won by Matt ALLEN from Kings Point with a pair of firsts over Michael EASTON of Pleon YC with two seconds and Canadien Ethan HOLTZER. Results for Radial fleet.

The smaller 4.7 rig fleet had a tie for first between Emily BILLING of Clearwater and Aaron GERRATT, both of whom had scores of 1 and 2. Third was Ben LEIBOWITZ and Cedar Point's Madeline GILL was fourth. Results for 4.7 fleet.
