Athlete Participation Programme

ISAF is pleased to offer financial subsidies to assist with travel to the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship and the entry fee. ISAF is also planning to offer specific coaching support whilst at the event to those on the Programme.

In 2003 the Athlete Participation Programme has been made available for athletes wishing to participate in the 2003 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship taking place from 17-26 July 2003 in Madeira, Portugal. In order to encourage participation and assist athletes from those countries who may not otherwise be able to participate in the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships,

The deadline for applications for funding assistance for the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships in Madeira expired at 1700 GMT today, the response to this particular initiative has been, and continues to be phenomenal.

So far, ISAF has received applications from 58 athletes from 22 nations. Representing all 5 continents, the 18 female athletes and 40 male athletes range from 14 to 18 years of age and include hopefuls in all 6 of the event disciplines.
