Jian YIN, silver medallist in Athens, continued to revel in the light and tricky conditions on day two of racing at Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, winning race 3 and finishing third in race 4.

"Today my racing was not as good as yesterday, but catching up from the 11th place to finish third [in race 4] was an accomplishment for me," she said.

YIN is looking in formidable form and has already built a nine point overall lead. However her competitors will be well aware that the Chinese sailor made a similar start to last year's Test Event in Qingdao, before fading in the latter stages, struggling in the windier conditions that arrived for the final two days of the regatta.

Behind YIN, world #1 sailor Marina ALABAU (ESP) finished fifth and second to jump into second place overall ahead of Jessica CRISP (AUS), who now has a slim grip on third.

"Today was all right but my last race went wrong," CRISP said. "I went the wrong way, but I'm going quick, so it was a bit upsetting to screw it up.

"I'm fit and I'm ready to medal this time," added the experienced Australia, who also competed at the Sydney and Athens Games. "These are the conditions I love. YIN is awesome, though. I had opportunities to beat her today, but it didn't work out."

Three-time Olympic medallist Alessandra SENSINI (ITA) also had a great day to be fourth overall after her win in race 4, while another medal favourite, Bryony SHAW (GBR), moved into fifth.

"It [the racing] is more emotionally exhausting than physically exhausting," SHAW said. "Today I sailed as well as I could, and now I'm very close to fourth place, so not too much damage has been done.

"My coach and I discussed that I need to back up and look at the big picture. I believe I made some good decisions today."

Barbara KENDALL (NZL) moved into sixth place. The 41 year old, who has a complete set of Olympic medals, was fourth in race 4 but is already 21 points off the lead. Athens gold medallist Faustine MERRET (FRA) continues to have a tough time and lies 15th overall, a massive 47 points off the lead.

The Women's RS:X fleet raced on a trapezoid course in Area B on Tuesday and will resume racing on Thursday.
