European Team Racing Championship
Denia

After a dominant final, the GBR 1 team have beaten the Dutch to become the first European Team Racing Champions.
When the event concluded at the weekend saw over 100 races sailed between the eight competing teams and was a useful indicator for the forthcoming ISAF Team Racing World Championship, being held in Auckland New Zealand in January.

GBR1, consisting of Stuart Hudson/Linda Eadie, Owen Modral/Jane Stamp and Dom Johnson/Debs Kershaw, defeated the team from the Netherlands of Jelle Roos/Janneke Hin, Joeroen den Boer/Floortje Henderikse and Frans Hin/Harko Robrock by three races to nothing.

The Dutch Team gained their place in the Final by beating a surprisingly good Spanish team 2-1 in the semi final whilst the other semi final GBR 2 fell to GBR 1 by losing three straight races. ESP 1 eventually finished fourth in the event after they were beaten by GBR 2 in the petit final. An exceptional performance by the Spanish team in a sailing discipline growing in popularity in the country.

Racing on the final day was again held in light conditions that seem to have dominated the event, which was well organised by the Denia Nautical Club.
