Board Members

Yachting New Zealand wishes to appoint two additional board members. Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons who are prepared to commit to attending up to ten board meetings a year, and to contributing to the governance of one of New Zealand's most successful and popular sports.

Application should be made electronically to the Chief Executive of Yachting New Zealand Des BRENNAN, with a brief outline of relevant skills and connection with sport. Applications should be received no later than Sunday 20 November. Short listed candidates should be available for interview with the board in Auckland early in December.

Regional Support Officer

Yachting New Zealand also wishes to appoint a Regional Support Officer for the Central/Wellington area. The role will involve supporting all aspects of the sport and report to the National Programmes Director. It will involve working closely with Nelson/Marlborough, Wellington and Western Districts Regional Yachting Associations, yacht clubs and schools.

Applicants will be required to spend some time travelling throughout the region. Knowledge of the sport and its club structure would be an advantage. Hours of work will need to be flexible to suit weekend and evening programmes. A copy of the job description is available on the website through the link below.

Sailing… Have a Go

Yachting New Zealand have announced the imminent launch of the Sailing… Have a Go scheme to give intermediate age children the opportunity to experience the thrill of sailing. They need an instructor to run the first unit based in the North of the North Island, starting in December through to April. This position will suit a person who holds or can achieve the Club Instructor qualification. It will suit someone who enjoys teaching children to sail and has the energy and experience to run the entire programme with assistance from head office.

Yachting New Zealand is the national body for competitive and recreational sailing in New Zealand with around 30,000 members, represented by some 160 member clubs and class associations. It is estimated to have 150,000 participants. Yachting is a sport with considerable connection with New Zealanders. It is a sport of high achievement, adventure and enterprise. Yachting is designated as one of only seven priority sports by Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC), and receives significant public funding.
