Dun Laoghaire Regatta Championship 2005
Dun Laoghaire, Ireland

With the cancellation of the 2005 Admiral's Cup, potential teams have had to reorganize their racing schedule for July. The Irish TP52 Patches owned by Eamon CONNEELY, (IRL) with Ian WALKER (GBR) and Shirley ROBERTSON (GBR) as part of his after guard, are planning to attend the inaugural Dun Laoghaire Regatta Championship in Dublin Bay to fill the new found hole in their schedule.
The Patches crew are hoping their entry will attract more Admiral's Cup hopefuls and Grand Prix race boats to the event. Dublin Bay has a growing reputation for producing some of the most competitive Cruiser Racers in Europe. Most of last year's Irish Commodores Cup challenge will be racing, along with some newly arrived Corby and Kerr designs.

The event is to be run from the 7-10 July. To quote the event organizing committee chairman, Brian CRAIG, 'The Dun Laoghaire Regatta Championship will be by far the largest sailing event in Ireland this year. We are expecting 500 boats, including top class visiting sailors, to be racing during the four days of the Regatta.'

'The event has generated great interest and already some 200 volunteers have signed up to work with the Committee to make the event the best ever in Dublin Bay.'

A full social programme is scheduled across the four waterfront clubs in Dun Laoghaire and entrants can be sure to experience more famed Irish hospitality.
