This has been a remarkable journey for a small group of great people,' said CONDELL. 'For a new team, it is like any new business except that everything is highly condensed and issues are magnified to an intensity unimaginable.'
CONDELL began the steps to organize a challenging syndicate in 2003. That quest led her to Malaysia, where in recent months CONDELL worked together with the Malaysia Ministry of Youth & Sport to develop the comprehensive Team C7 business plan to incorporate a community relations program, components of which targeted youth sailing and women's health.
The looming America's Cup Management announcement deadline of 29 April 2005 came entirely too soon for Team C7: 'if we were beaten by anything, it was time,' CONDELL said.
CONDELL made it a point to publicly recognize her 'fellow team members and our corporate partners who have decided to stay with us', and a key supporter of Team C7 and indeed Malaysia, BMW Oracle's Tom EHMAN (USA).
'I want to acknowledge and thank Tom EHMAN for his encouragement and support of us and our campaign,' she said. 'Tom, the first Chairman of the Challenger Commission, conducted a professional round table approach, continually kept us informed and in some instances, kept us motivated.'
However, Team C7 will continue it's sailing interests in other venues. CONDELL plans to enter Team C7 in the European sailing circuit and other international regattas: 'The experience will not be wasted. It is my intention to take the knowledge gained from this syndicate preparation and put it to good use.
The 33rd America's Cup 2011 is on the agenda but now it's time to go sailing,'
