There are ten Events at the Olympic Sailing Competition so ten gold medals to be won. Four of the Events are for women and six for men and the Equipment (or type of boat) they use is indicated in the table below.

The Two Person Dinghy Events are the only ones which use exactly the same equipment for men and women. The basics of the one person dinghy and windsurfer events are the same but the women use slightly smaller sails than the men.
