The SL16 Catamaran & the SL16 Class Association

Designed in 2003, the SL16 is the culmination of 40 years of research and development carried out by the architect Yves Loday, Olympic Gold Medallist in Tornado in 1992.

Official multihull for the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship and the FFVoile Youth Sailing French Championship, the SL16 is the perfect catamaran for young crews always looking for more sophisticated performance, fun and sensations. It thus provides a springboard to the F18 and Nacra 17.

The SL16 is an evolution of the KL15.5 designed in 1993 and remastered in 2003 under the name SL15.5. The SL16 uses the same platform with a larger rig, making it a more sporty and powerful catamaran, very fast and exciting but still easy to handle. With a high quality standard equipment, the SL16 is designed for the highest level and provides extreme emotions.

Created in 2003, the SL16 International Class Association (SLICA) is the connection between SL16 sailors and the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). Among various tasks, the major roles of the SLICA is to promote the SL16 around the world, protect its class rules and organize each year the Open World Championship and International Trainings.
