Race Officers
In 1982, US Sailing first began a race officer program. The current certification programs are designed to recognize qualified race officers throughout the country and to promote quality race management. The Race Management Committee is the committee of US Sailing that promotes race management and manages the training and certification of all levels of race officers.
The Race Management Committee meets its charter through basic and advanced training seminars that are held across the US Sailing Areas. The Committee, through its subcommittee, the Race Officer Training and Certification Committee, develops and maintains the training program, and communicates the procedures for certification in print or electronically on its website. The Committee promotes information exchange through interaction with its Area Race Officers.
