Support for clubs affected by weather conditions

Advice and assistance on hand for clubs affected by the weather conditions.

The continuing onslaught of the current weather conditions is causing problems for many clubs across the country with damage to club premises, facilities and equipment caused by the high winds and flooding.

Sports clubs of all types are facing immense pressure, not least sailing clubs because of their obvious location by the water, and club volunteers across the country are working hard to minimise the effects that the weather is having.

RYA affiliated clubs facing any difficulties with insurers or landlords can contact the RYA for assistance on tel: 0844 5569519 or email: legal@rya.org.uk.

RYA Regional Development Officers are on hand to provide advice and support and RYA staff will be at the upcoming RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show to assist clubs with any concerns or problems they are facing as a consequence of the weather conditions.

Sport England flood guidance

Specific guidance on flooding is available from Sport England. It provides key information relating to all aspects of dealing with a flood at a sports club and on what you can do before a flood for those clubs concerned that this may happen.

This guidance can be found on the Sport England website.

Spirit of camaraderie

In a spirit of camaraderie Queen Mary Sailing Club in Staines has opened its doors to clubs in its vicinity that have been affected by flooding.

They are offering members the chance to bring their boats over to Queen Mary and join in the racing until their own clubs are back up and running.
