Record that 'magic moment'

With 2014 marking the 30th Anniversary of the IRC rating rule, a major milestone in the provision of fair and simple ratings for racing sailors around the world, the RORC Rating Office is requesting your help to record some of your most memorable racing moments, either during this landmark year or from the past 30 years, for publication in the 2015 IRC Yearbook.

IRC 2014 - adjustable mast foot & forestay clarification

It has come to our attention that IRC Notice 2013-03 Mast Foot & Forestay was misleading regarding when a boat would incur an increase in rating for an adjustable mast foot and/or forestay.

The wording has therefore been updated for clarification and published on the IRC website.

The IRC Technical Committee apologises for any confusion.

IRC 2014 TCC changes

For 2014, the IRC Technical Committee has made a number of changes to the calculation of IRC TCCs.

Most of these have small effects, or affect only a small minority of boats. In a number of cases, they either simplify the IRC software or make it more logical, without intent to change TCCs. Any effects in these cases are therefore also small and are not discussed in the published document (link below).

The beady-eyed among you may have noticed some odd things printed in the IRC 2014 Yearbook. We apologise to those affected and here are the correct details:

On page 14 the RORC Easter Challenge results were printed in place of the RORC IRC National Championship results which should read:

IRC 1 Magnum IIi Ker 40 Andrew Pearce

IRC 2 Beelzebuth 3 Grand Soleil 40 Olivier Pesci

IRC 3 Bengal Magic J 35 James Chalmers

On page 15, the picture of Strait Dealer should show the J.P.K. 10.10, not the J/125.

On page 25 the IRC rating for Premier Flair should read 1.071.
