The 210 competitor fleet from 31 countries were sent afloat on schedule but had to wait 2 hours for a 5 to 6 knot wind to build and settle. In this respect the pattern was similar to all the other days but there was once again drama and excitement.

In the youth fleet series leader Tim Hulse broke his personalised tiller at the start of the race and had to sit out and watch to see how the Croatian Luka Radelic and Thomas Le Breton from France performed to see what he had to do in the second race of the day. Hulse said "I had prepared well and intended to sail my own race in the first race of the day and see how things went before making a final plan for the second race. I was pretty annoyed when my tiller broke." Radelic started at the pin end and was soon out in front. He had the lead at the first mark and was never seriously challenged for the rest of the race. Le Breton meanwhile had an average start and struggled to break away from the pack. He rounded the first mark in tenth and although at one point worked his way up to fifth his ninth place finish was not enough to put him ahead of Hulse.

In the seniors, local favourite, Maciej Grabowski, also started at the pin end and was soon in control of the fleet to lead at the first mark. He said "On the second upwind I was trying to cover Peer Moberg (his nearest rival) in case he went for a corner and passed me. This meant that Roope Suomalainen FIN and Paul Goodison GBR passed me. We then had a close race and I managed to pass Roope on the downwind to finish second." With Moberg finishing 8th he still held on to second overall with Goodison moving up to 3rd overall.

Although the Race Committee attempted to start a second race in the remaining thirty minutes before the cut off time for starting a general recall for the seniors meant that no second race could be started for any fleet.

Back ashore the senior's drama was about to unfold. Goodison had had a collision at the first mark with fellow countryman Ed Wright which was the subject of a protest and counter protest. The jury found in favour of Wright which dropped Goodison to fourth overall and elevated Frederick Lassenius to third overall.
