An old sea-bird is leading the high Tech Farrs in IRC

A classic old Fife designed metre style boat, almost 100 years old is winning after three races ahead of Simon Whiston’s Farr 40 Smile and ahead of two others, Fruit Machine and Farr Too Much Fun.

The Farr 40's were expected to blanket the IRC division in this series are not having it their own way.
Back in 1907 when the huon pine hulled Eun-Na-Mara was launched she was pretty much a gun boat, winning the Sayonara Cup in 1910

In the 1950's she was rebuilt and raced in Western Australia for more than 30 years, no longer as a gaff rigged boat but as a masthead boat. In 1997, owner Nick Chapman started a project to turn his little boat into a competitive racer, with an aluminum mast and hull, a beautifully refinished hull and keel and racing sails. Eun-Na-Mara is Gaelic for Bird of the Sea and she has certainly been singing

Nick Chapman, was Royal Brighton's Yachtsman of the year and he has a very competitive race crew. Racing his antique Eun-Na-Mara on AMS in Melbourne she has been as her skipper confesses with a little smile "very competitive"
