Volvo Ocean Race
Southampton

Being about 230 miles away from land the yachts in the Volvo Ocean Race are all trying to get their bow as far West as possible for the expected change in wind direction.
As the yachts are still very close together, getting into the wind shift half an hour later than the opposition could decide about being in front or behind. Assa Abloy, sacrificed pointing in order to speed up. This puts pressure on illbruck, Tyco and Amer Sports One to follow for not losing control on Assa Abloy. What we can see in the open Atlantic right now is pure fleet racing "boat to boat tactics", pure, intense and determined.

Team News Corp are still furthest to the west and on distance to the finish just 14 miles behind even though their straight line distance to illbruck is about twice as much. SEB and Amer Sports Too are in between and to the East.

Djuice is opting for a different track, sailing higher than everybody else and after crossing the other yachts track, still making more way to the South than anybody else. As this is all about weather and probabilities of anticipated wind changes, djuice's tactician, the French weather guru Jean Yves Bernot might have found something different.
