One hour before the start the committee boat reported 18.6 knot averages and 1.5 metre seas which was broadcast to the sailors. Nevertheless 60 boats took to the water for the Practice Race which started on time at 15:00 hours.

14 boats were identified as OCS at the start, 49 rounded the top mark and 19 were recorded as rounding the second mark with the remainder returning to the shore. As wind and seas continued to build only four boats carried on to finish the race, discretion appearing to be the better part of valour on this occasion.

Unfortunately tomorrow's forecast is no better, but hopefully Race One will start as scheduled at 15:00 hours on Saturday 12 February.
