British Olympic Champions Charge To Top At Star Worlds
Percy and Simpson
Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson (GBR)

Star World Championship
Hyeres, France

Britain's Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson have taken the lead at the 2012 Star Worlds in Hyeres, France following a victory in Race 3.
It's all or nothing for the wind in Hyeres and after two days of shifty weather it blew 20knots for the 72-boat fleet with more breeze coming through with further gusts.

The 11:00 start went off first time and the competitors headed to the upwind mark without any hesitation.

Denmark's Michael Hestbaeck and Claus Olesen were the first at the mark followed by Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Dominik Zycki (POL). Percy and Simpson were third on the upwind before the Polish team took the lead downwind.

It was a tough day for all the teams with nine boats unable to finish and three masts broken. But Percy and Simpson showed their superiority in the big winds and took the race win. The Polish pair came through in second followed by Fredrik Look and Max Salminen (SWE).

Percy and Simpson lead overall on 14 points followed by Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada (BRA) and Ireland's Peter O'Leary and David Burrows (IRL).
