Newcomer to the event in the RS:X Boys, Carvalho, said, "
Before the championship, I had never sailed in the South of Brazil - the closest I've got to Rio Grande do Sul was São Paulo. In the next months before Ireland I have two championships in Argentina, and I will train a lot in Búzios, because a really want to bring that medal to Brazil. I wish to thank everyone who supported me, my friends and all the RS:X fleet."
CBVM technical manager, Jonatas Gonçalves, monitored the event and highlighted the Youth World Qualifier importance to Brazilian sailing.
"The competition focus is set on the young," said Goncalves.
"We have excellent optimist sailors that someday will leave the class and need support in this transition. Therefore, the Youth World Qualifier, as well as the ISAF Youth Worlds itself, are important to make kids and teenagers linked to other classes."
