If you haven't already done so, put your name on the list through Request Entry Information. You will receive an information and photo-filled color copy of the "Official" NOR with which to start planning for the 43rd biennial Newport to Bermuda Race, starting off Castle Hill, Newport, RI on June 14, 2002.

The 2002 race features two distinct IMS racing classes with each competing for its own Lighthouse "keeper" Trophy. The IMS Racing "Grand Prix" classes will sail for the New Gibb's Hill Lighthouse Trophy and the IMS Cruiser/Racer classes will sail for the traditional St. David's Lighthouse Trophy.

Cruising Division classes will sail under the AMERICAP system in fully crewed Non-spinnaker classes for cruising yachts and will compete for the Royal Mail Trophy. Classic Cruising Division yachts will sail for the Dorade Trophy. Double-handed crews will sail under AMERICAP™ for the Weld Prize in the spinnaker class and for the Moxie Prize in the
non-spinnaker class.

Applications for entry must be filed with the committee by April 1, 2002, with all final documents due by May 15, 2002. Plan to start the entry process as early as possible, as it requires a thorough inspection of each yacht and verification of offshore experience for skipper and crew.
