Puerto Rico International Regatta

The duel between KosaLoka and Don Q Limon was settled on the last race of the last day of the regatta, as KosaLoka, the Olson 30 skippered by Kike GONZALEZ took the honours at the Bared Puerto Rico International Regatta 2004.
Great weather conditions prevailed throughout the Easter weekend, with winds on the lighter side, making tactics and strategy the edge for all competitors. A total of 7 races were completed during the weekend for Spinnaker Racing and J-24 classes with 8-12 knots of wind and 2-3 feet seas. Cruising, Jib & Main and Beach Cats also enjoyed great races, with all the courses designed for speed in their classes.

The Spinnaker Racing class heated up when, KosaLoka ,an Olson 30 skippered by Kike GONZALEZ and Don Q Limon. KosaLoka won the battle , the Melges ended up in second, with Umakua, a J-105, in third place.

In the J-24 class, Fraito Lugo's Orion dominated the class with 6 points, followed by Gilberto RIVERA'S Urayo and by San Patricio MRI, respectively.

In the Non Spinnaker Cruising Class, the team from Great Britain Kracker Jack finished in first place followed Poco a Poco, Agustin RODRIGUEZ'S Pearson Flyer, and Balaju II in third place.

Enjambre, a J-29 from Fajardo Puerto Rico won the first place in Jib & Main Class. The visiting yacht Dottie II finished second and Marlyn II, skippered by Carlos Sierra finished third in their come back to racing.

Kike FIGUEROA and Jorge HERNANDEZ, the team that will compete for Puerto Rico in Athens at the Olympic Games, lead the Beach Cat division in their Suzuki/Movistar/Red Bull cat. Caribbean Automart from St Croix and HF Mortgage with Ibrahim Mustafa at the helm ended second and third respectively in the class. Figueroa and Hernandez made a pause in their training at Palma de Mallorca, Spain to participate in this event.

Kosaloka, Orion, Kracker Jack, Enjambre and Suzuki Movistar Red Bull won the prestigious Breitling Avenger M-1 during the Bared Puerto Rico International Regatta 2004.
