About Us

British Water Ski & Wakeboard is a sport governing body and membership organisation funded by its members for the benefit of its members. Its main role is acting on behalf of the interests of water skiers and wakeboarders to develop and serve the sport - a non-profit making organisation with all of our income invested in developing and protecting water skiing across the UK from the grassroots level through to our top athletes.  The organisation consists of a diverse network of circa 150 affiliated members clubs, cable sites, commercial pay and play ski centres and activity centres.  The majority of our clubs are voluntary clubs (circa 85 clubs) and in a typical year the organisation has 10 to 11,000 members.  Recognised by the UK government as a national governing body the association is in receipt of Exchequer and Lottery funding via Sport England and other funding streams which support its work in managing all aspects of the sport.

International Links

British Water Ski & Wakeboard is affiliated to the International Water Ski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) through the Europe and Africa Region (E&A). Britain is a major player in the world of water skiing having individual skiers and riders as World and E & A Champions, as well as teams featuring in the medals at World and E&A Championships. As part of the IWWF we also have a good number of our members sitting on World and E&A Committees and therefore able to put forward a British perspective into the rules of the sport.

National Sporting Links

British Water Ski & Wakeboard is a member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance which is the umbrella organisation for national governing bodies and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK and represents more than 300 members organisations.  Its work takes in a wide range of activities, from campaigning on behalf of sport and recreation to providing its members with services like training and networking.
