IOC Olympic Solidarity (OS) is one of the Commissions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is the body responsible for managing and administering the share of the television rights of the Olympic Games that the is allocated to its National Olympic Committee (NOC) members.
The aim of IOC Olympic Solidarity is to manage funding to NOCs recognized by the IOC, in particular those which have the greatest need of it. This funding takes the form of programmes faciltated at National / Internatonal levl between the IOC, itsNOCs and the ultimately with the National Sport Federations (MNAs). The IOC will work in partnership with the International Sports Federations (IFs) if necessary.
IOC Olympic Solidarity Sections / Programmes
IOC Olympic Solidarity provides funding to National Olympic Committees (NOCs) through 17 'programmes' in 4 'sections'. The 2 sections below include 7 Training and Development related programmes which can be of direct benefit to ISAF Member National Authorities (MNAs).
OS World Programmes - Athletes section:
- Number 2. Olympic Games Scholarships for Athletes (sailors) - 'Rio 2016'
- Number 3. Team Support Grants
- Number 4. Continental Athlete Support Grants
- Number 5. Youth Olympic Games - Athlete support
OS World Programmes - Coaches section:
- Number 6. Technical Courses for Coaches (TCCs)
- Number 7. Sports Specifc Olympic Scholarship for Coaches
- Number 8. Development of National Sports Structure (DNSS)
Applications for all programme areas must be made through relevant National Olympic Committees. ISAF MNAs must first decide which 'section' and 'programme/s' they wish to apply for and request the relevant application from their NOC. The support from ISAF in helping to complete the various forms has proved beneficial to all those MNAs who have so far benefitted from OS Funded programmes.
