Guardian says Twitter surpassing other social media for breaking news traffic

Andrew Miller, Guardian News & Media CEO, says that Twitter is driving more referral traffic for key breaking news stories to The Guardian than other social media platforms.

Speaking at the recent #TweetsFromTheTop Twitter event for chief executives, Miller (@AndrewMiller100) says 10% of the newspaper’s traffic now comes from social media, and that Twitter is central to its efforts.

C4 News and Twitter team up to build Snowmail

Channel 4 News has teamed up with Twitter to build its early evening news email update ‘Snowmail’ and becomes the first UK media organisation to use the Twitter Lead Generation Card in the process.

The broadcaster is looking to extend the reach of the daily Snowmail, which is named after Channel 4 News’ senior news anchor Jon Snow. The goal is to sign up thousands of new subscribers and use Promoted Tweets targeting interests and keywords in user timelines.Read more…

French banking giant touts Twitter-based customer service in new TV spot

French banking group Société Générale has created a television advertising campaign about how it is answering customer queries swiftly via Twitter. The ad, created by agency Fred & Farid (@FredFaridGroup), began airing earlier this week.
