Dayskipper Weekend Course - Part 1
On this RYA Day Skipper practical course you will gain further experience through planning and completing passages, including a night sail. You will also gain your ICC (International Certificate of Competence). The course also involves lots of close quarter handling skills and mooring in a range of marinas.
The Part 1 RYA Day Skipper Course Includes:
- Preparation for sea
- Deck work
- Reef and shake out reefs
- Anchoring
- Mooring alongside and picking up a mooring under power
- Meteorology
- Rules of the road
- Engine Checks
- Fuel & water filters
- Pump impeller
- Bleeding fuel system
- Emergency situations
- MOB under power
- Yacht handling under power
- Yacht handling under sail
Course Objective: Gain RYA Day Skipper certificate and you will be licensed to skipper your own boat and charter a boat both in the UK or abroad.
Prerequisite: Some theoretical knowledge is an advantage. Day Skipper Theory

How many people on the course?
There will be a maximum of 5 students on board with one instructor.
What happens if the weather conditions aren't good?
If the weather forecast isn't looking ideal- one of our team will contact with you a few days before the event. We will look into rescheduling you for a later date or look into starting the course from our centre in Gosport.
How much of the course is spent on the water?
This is a practical course therefore the whole course will be on the water.
