#TwitterCanada open for business
Last Thursday, we kicked off Twitter’s operations in Canada, gathering clients and partners from throughout the Canadian media and advertising industries at @TheCarlu in downtown Toronto. Our new director of Twitter’s Canadian operations, @KirstineStewart. and our head of international agency relationships, @JPMaheu, kicked off the festivities with an introduction to Twitter and our products:

Guests then got to hear the perspectives and stories of Twitter partners representing agencies, clients and celebrities. Starcom MediaVest Canada’s CEO Bruce Neve (@nevesaid) and MediaCom Canada’s CEO Jamie Edwards (@MediaComCanada) shared their views on what makes Twitter special:

Dan Quinn, VP of Digital for BlackBerry (@BlackBerry), also took the stage to explain how Twitter advertising helped drive a successful worldwide launch for BlackBerry 10, which moved consumer sentiment over a 12-month span from 70% negative on Twitter to 90% positive or neutral.

To wrap, Kirstine invited some special Canadian Twitter users — Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) of “Dragon’s Den”, luxury brand expert Lisa Tant (@LisaTant), and PK Subban (@PKSubban1) of the Montreal Canadiens — to the stage to talk about Twitter and social media generally. This Tweet captured the sentiment nicely:

We couldn’t have pulled this off without some fantastic media partners. In addition to @BlackBerry, Home Depot Canada (@HomeDepotCanada), Visa Canada (@VisaNewsCA), and Red Bull Canada (@RedBullCanada) all played a part in a great celebration of Canadian Tweets!
