Executive Director – David Campbell
David Campbell, a resident of Carlisle, MA, has been a technology executive, board member, investment banker, and humanitarian field volunteer. He went to Thailand in 2005 immediately following the tsunami, and became one of the founders of HandsOnThailand.org, which brought over 200 volunteers and several hundred thousand dollars to assist the rebuilding of five Phuket fishing villages. In 2006, after a 1500-volunteer Katrina response project in Mississippi, this volunteer response model became known as Hands On Disaster Response and has brought volunteer assistance to thousands of families since it’s formative days in Thailand.
David’s 40-year business background includes positions as President of BBN Technologies of Cambridge, and of GTE Labs in Waltham, as well as CEO responsibilities at public companies Computer Task Group of Buffalo and Xpedior of Chicago. Mr. Campbell is currently a Managing Director of Innovation Advisors, an investment-banking firm.
David has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Tektronix, M&T Bank, MRO Software, Gibraltar Industries, and PowerSteering software, and Niagara University and SUNY-Buffalo, as well as civic positions including Chairman of Roswell Park Cancer Institute Council, the Buffalo United Way campaign, and the Erie County IDA and Chamber.
Recognitions include an honorary doctorate from Niagara University, Citizen of the Year from The Buffalo News, and inclusion as a Fellow in the first year awards of the Purpose Prize.

Operations Director – Marc Young
Marc Young has assessed, established, and managed operations for HODR in Haiti, Bangladesh, Peru, Philippines, Indonesia, and the USA. His management expertise and people skills have helped both the volunteers and communities associated with the HODR organization.
Marc was among the first volunteers to arrive in Biloxi, MS, USA after hurricane Katrina hit. As the HODR volunteer community grew Marc began to play a more integral role in the daily operations and joined us as an Operations Director on our Katrina Response Project in December, 2005.
Previously, Marc’s career in the scuba diving industry had him working in places such as Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Honduras, Thailand, India, and Viet Nam. Prior to that, he was a small business owner for 12 years. When not helping or exploring Marc can be found pedaling his Bianchi bicycle “Bucephalus”.

Operations Director – Bill Driscoll Jr.
In June 2007, Bill Driscoll Jr. was welcomed aboard as an Operations Director to focus on domestic responses.
Bill volunteered full-time with HODR’s response project in Biloxi, Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He was a main stay at the Katrina Response Project until its conclusion in January 2006. Days later Bill founded Persevere Disaster Relief, a small non-profit based on HODR’s effective grassroots model.
Bill and Persevere headed west of Biloxi, down the Mississippi coastline and focused on helping the devastated communities of Pass Christian, Waveland and Bay St. Louis. In June 2007, Persevere closed out its successful year and a half-long recovery and rebuilding project at which time Bill came aboard HODR as an Operations Director.
A native of Milton, MA, Bill graduated from Boston College in 2005 and brings with him a background in film production and communications. In January 2006, First Lady Laura Bush presented Bill with the “President’s Call to Service Award” for his work with HODR following Katrina.

International Project Director – Stefanie Chang
Stefanie Chang volunteered with HODR in Mississippi in 2005 and Indonesia in 2006, and worked as a Project Coordinator in the Philippines, Peru and Bangladesh. She also led our Sichuan Earthquake Assessment in the summer of 2008. Stefanie joined HODR in September 2008 as our first Project Director, leading Project Gonaives, HODR’s hurricane response in Haiti.
Stefanie is originally from the San Francisco area. She has a B.S. in electrical engineering & computer science from UC Berkeley, 2004, and brings with her non-profit experience from her work with the Cal State East Bay Small Business Development Center. Stefanie speaks French and Mandarin.

US Project Director – Jeremey Horan
Jeremey first volunteered with HODR in November, 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, followed by volunteer stints on HODR projects in Indonesia, Peru and Haiti. His first Project Coordination role was on Project Cedar Rapids in 2008, managing work-flow and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the project. Most recently Jeremey aided in the assessment, set-up and running of our tornado response deployment in Mena, AR. Jeremey joined the HODR Team in May, 2009 as US Project Director, increasing our project management capacity.
Before Jeremey’s involvement with HODR, he worked as an Account Executive for the NYC advertising agency McCann Erickson working with clients including Xbox, Verizon Wireless and The Army. The Buffalo, NY native has a B.A. degree from Ithaca College and when not on project spends his time in San Francisco.

Communications Manager – Aaron Mason
Aaron Mason joined HODR in June, 2010 as Communications Manager to serve as the on-site technical contact, as well as work with volunteers to share the HODR experience with the world. Aaron’s first involvement with HODR was as a volunteer in Sungai Gerringing, Indonesia, leading transitional shelter construction teams in response to the 2009 earthquake.
Aaron brings with him over ten years of IT and Communications experience, having served as Techincal and Creative Services Director for an international B2B marketing firm. He also brings experience in Event Production and Construction Management, having built and operated non-profit live-in art spaces in both New York City and Honolulu, Hawaii.

Development Manager – Andrew Kerr
At the conclusion of Project Cedar Rapids in October, 2008, Andrew Kerr was brought on-board as Development Manager to secure foundation and corporate funding. Andrew first encountered HODR as a volunteer at Project Cedar Rapids in June, 2008; after two weeks, Andrew extended his volunteer trip for the duration of the project. During the project Andrew coordinated support from several area Rotary Clubs, and utilized his banking background to help run Project Cedar Rapid’s mini-grant program.
Andrew has a background as a mortgage loan officer, and was formerly President of the Research Triangle Park Rotary Club in North Carolina. Andrew is currently resides in Cary, NC.

Administrative Manager – Tom Taylor
Tom Taylor arrived in Biloxi as a volunteer five days after Katrina hit and took a primary role in managing the base camp, office and communications for Hands On USA. He returned to the Gulf Coast 10 times to work for HODR and later spent almost a month helping in the Philippines deployment.
Tom spent over 30 years as a manager in the telecommunications industry and is currently responsible for the administrative aspects of Hands On Disaster Response.

Administrative Assistant – Kathy Estridge
Kathy joins HODR with over 25 years of combined experience in project and grants management in emergency management, occupational health and safety, and public health education. Her volunteer experience includes two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, five years as a grant writer for a regional animal shelter, and as US project coordinator for a basuriega relocation project in Medillin, Colombia.
Originally from Lexington, MA, Kathy has an undergraduate degree in education from Framingham State, and a masters degree in Civil Engineering from Tufts University.
