Funding 

Are you looking for funding for your club to purchase equipment, pay for training or improve your facilities? If so we have listed some of the funds that you may be able to access.

Small Grants – Sport England (£300-£10,000)

Provides Capital and / or Revenue funding to support local community sport projects which seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport. e.g. boats and equipment. Since 2007 sailing and windsurfing have had 191 successful applications totalling £1,718,620.

Inspired Facilities Fund

Sport England Inspired Facilities is focused on making it easier for local community and volunteer groups to improve and refurbish sports clubs into modern grassroots sport facilities. Part of Places People Play, Sport England’s programme to deliver a London 2012 legacy of increased mass participation in sport, it is investing £50 million of National Lottery funding in up to 1000 community sports projects between 2011 and 2014. Community and voluntary sector can apply for grants between £20,000 and £50,000. Since August 2011 there have been 42 successful sailing applications totalling £2,068,624.

Sports Match Fund (£1000-£100,000)

Provides awards to projects aimed at increasing participation in sports at community grass roots level through matching eligible funding e.g. private or commercial sponsorship invested in community sport.

New Big Lottery Awards for All Fund (£300-£10,000)

Provides funding to projects that improve communities, and the lives of people within them. Physical activity projects can fulfil the funding criteria for this programme.

Reaching Communities Fund (£10,000-£500,000)

Provides funding to projects that help people and communities who are most in need, and can really make a difference. Projects can be new or existing activities.

These are available and open to clubs to apply for. Be sure to take a look at the guidelines to see if a grant can be of help to your club.

John Merricks Trust

Provides grants to your sailing club, recognized teaching establishment or community group to help fund or part-fund a worthwhile project involving young people.

Eric Twiname Trust

Provides grants to assist in the organisation and provision of facilities which will enable and encourage young people in full time education at schools or universities to sail or race.

Landfill Communities Fund

The LCF encourages and enables Landfill Operators (LOs) to support a wide range of environmental projects.

Community Foundation Network

With more than £224m in endowed funds and providing about £70m in grants a year community foundations combined are one of the UK’s biggest non-statutory community grant-makers. Community foundations manage funds donated by both individuals and organisations, while creating endowments and connecting donors to local needs.

Lloyds TSB Foundation

Supports registered charities whose core work helps disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in communities across England and Wales.

Comic Relief - Sport for Change

Comic Relief have developed this programme to support a range of innovative projects that are using sport as a tool for making a real difference in the communities in which they are based.

Children in Need Grants

Open to organisations working with disadvantaged children and young people who are 18 years old and under. Organisation and project must be based in the UK and to be a registered charity or other not-for-profit organisation.

Peoples Postcode Trust

Provides funding opportunities to small organisations, community groups and charities, through grants ranging from £500 - £10,000 for three month projects. Next round opens Monday 10th October.
