The new DofE Expedition Guide

The DofE has just released for pre-order a completely updated and re-written Expedition Guide (13th edition).  Using the expertise of hundreds of DofE Assessors, Supervisors and Leaders, this new book is an invaluable resource for anyone running or involved in DofE expeditions.  Also updated for mid-September are training documents and new webpages.

The new Expedition Guide is available from www.DofEshop.org, priced at £14.99, the same as the 2000 edition.  With a water-resistant cover, the guide will be an essentail piece of kit for DofE Leaders, Supervisors and Assessors to carry with them on expedition.  It will provide clear advice and explanations to help them support participants to complete their expedition.

The Guide will be officially released in the next few days so watch out for more news about this essential new resource…

What’s in this Guide?
Following the enormous amount of feedback from our survey earlier in the year the Expedition Guide will:
• Be the main resource for guidance and advice on running DofE expeditions, going through every stage from the aim to the qualifying expedition.
• Provide advice and encourage other modes of travel and expeditions outside the UK.
• Clearly set out key behaviour expectations of DofE participants while on expedition.
• Provide clear policies on mobile phones, GPS, GPS tracking, personal music players and participant behaviour.
• Clearly set out the roles and responsibilities of Supervisors and Assessors.
• Include 25 statements from famous and exceptional adventurers to inspire and advise others.
• Include 125 hints and tips from DofE Leaders, Supervisors and Assessors.

Expedition Guide Survey March 2012

Thank you to the 871 people who took the time to complete the Expedition Guide survey and help us to develop the new guide.

The response has been fantastic and it will take us some time to go through the open text answers. However you can view the results of the closed questions here.

Again, thank you for you help.

The DofE Operations Team, Windsor.
