Spyder started as a small mail order business over 30 years ago by David Jacobs, a world-renowned ski champion. Inspired by his sons and the need for more ski-specialty based companies in the industry, David embarked on his new business venture ‘for racing, by racers.’ The name Spyder was coined by his son, Billy. He noticed that people were calling his father´s blue racing pants, with yellow striped padding from the knee to hip, ‘spider’ pants.

Based out of his small kitchen for the first couple of years, Spyder exploded onto the scene and quickly became ready for expansion. As their popularity grew, Spyder became known for carrying authentic, performance-driven skiwear and accessories. Today, the company is the largest ski-specialty brand in the world.
