Parker began in 2008, by New York City designers Laurieanne Gilner and Derek Farrar. They wanted to fill a void in the marketplace for "great tops." Laurieanne travels the globe seeking out vintage prints from the 1920s and 1950s. She re-interprets them with an eclectic, Paris-meets-Brooklyn sensibility. Derek is the modern couturier. He incorporates the details, whether it is a seam or a ruffle, with the modern girl in mind. The result is a collection of weightless, easy garments with impeccable fit that work season after season. Derek is inspired by the ultrafeminine flavor of every decade, particularly ruffles, flounces and bows.

The success of Parker has made this collection the "go-to" brand for beautiful blouses, terrific tunics and tops that can be desirably dressed up or down for any occasion. Parker has since expanded to a full collection, which now includes dresses, pants, shorts, jumpsuits, rompers and tuxedo jackets.
