Praying for our Nation

We are committed to pray for our National leaders The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and Archbishop of York John Sentamu.

We believe that the Wilberforce Connection is the key move of God in the UK at the present time. The 200th anniversary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade has reintroduced to the national life the reminder of what the Lord achieved through a small number of evangelical believers in the Clapham Group during the time of William Wilberforce. Moggerhanger Park and, in particular, the ministry of Dr. Clifford Hill, has assisted us greatly in understanding the prophetic importance of this move. Over the past 10 years, we have seen confirmation after confirmation that it is the Lord's intent to encourage His church to believe that the example of Wilberforce can inspire ministry in the nation in the 21st Century (please refer to www.the-park.net for details of the ministries that assist us in praying for the UK). We have recently responded to the 12,000 young children who are held in slavery to produce 43% of the World's Cocoa production and are fully committed to the '
Stop the Traffik' chocolate campaign.

We are seeking to identify with the ‘
Heal our Land’ initiative, believing that the time has now come where our society has recognised it is broken. Broken Britain is seen as the word of the Lord to our nation at this time. We are therefore praying for Breakthrough Britain and as part of this emphasis are wanting to engage in the political process. At St. Toms’ we are committed to a completely cross-party and supra-political solution to the UK’s future and look solely to the Lord for His ultimate provision.

To this end, we have invited leaders of the national church and those with a whole-UK perspective to assist us in our
Deeper services.

We meet four times a year to co-ordinate the Eastleigh region Trumpet Call Gathering which uses the materials of
Maranatha and Moggerhanger Park, together with CCFON and the Christian Institute to enable us to pray with understanding as the Lord continues to reveal His will for the nation.

We are particularly committed to the opportunity that the 2012 Olympic Games offer and will be seeking to engage with the local opportunities this will bring.

Summary of where we believe our national emphasis should be:

(a) Consistently looking for the ongoing development of the Wilberforce Connection.
(b) In this regard, anticipating that the black majority churches, being those who were the children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of those who were once in slavery, will emerge as the leaders of the National Church in the 21st century.
(c) Inspiring young men and women to believe God for their destiny, both locally and nationally, if we continue to pray for insight and anointing.
