Friday 23.04.2013
Left Hafan berth 07.45 cut engine off Gimlet Rock NW F5, through St Tuds. full sail, across firing range 10.30 reported position 6-7 knots over ground. 11.30 m/sail NWW 3. 2.15 engine off
Through Ramsey Sound , calm onto Jack Sound, still calm picked up mooring outer Dale 2130.

Saturday
Left Dale for Padstow 0750 2 hrs before HW Dover Calm m/sail all day, dolphins nosey Police boat. arrived Padstow 16.30 plenty of water in channel. Gate closed & ferryman told us to take vacent Lifeboat buoy. Good night. Forecast not good for next 2 days decided to stay. Dingy to shore for a pint (3) and fish & chips - fantastic! What sailing is all about.

Sunday
Entered locked harbour, made very welcome, not charged for buoy mooring £20 per night (11.85 mtr) Pasties for lunch, cooked evening meal Pub again!

Monday
Similar, raining, cold. met another Pwllheli boat, Halberg Rassey 36 Laurie & Mike leaving Pwllheli going to South Coast and Dufor 36 from Conway going to La Rochelle

Tuesday
0520 cleared harbour in company with the two other boats, out past headland, bumpy seas, Full sail, 1100 off Longships tide against m/sail left company, Dufor going to Newlyn. Set course for Chenal de Four, started 2 hrs on 2 hrs off during day to build up sleep 16.15 registered passage with Falmouth coastguard. Plenty of ships during night especially on French side (fishing) glad Vernon had invested in AIS when heavy mist came down, took avoiding action several times. Watches worked well

Wednesday
Daylight off French coast near entrance to Chenal de Four reduced speed to delay so not to close in poor vis (lobster pots) Heavy mist, 3 x frigates playing with us.
Cleared CdF, entered at slack, no problem, well marked, tried to make Raz but did not really have enough time to be safe, went into Cameret 10.25. Met Alan & Hazel off Daisy May, Moody 37 from Milton Havenb, on way to Greece through French canals.

Thursday
Left Cameret 0700 went through Raz 10.15 arrived 19.30 at Benodet, up the short river (strong currents) Nice little place good facilities. Saw a boat who's owner had been copying Dave Wigley (on it's side in the mud)

Friday
1300 left on t5ide to go to Ile d Groix. Strong NNW wind 19-25 knts gusts to 32 (hail squalls), cold 6 5 - 7 through water,broad reach. Auto helm down from start DD hand steered 10 hrs big swells (good fun!) Plenty of wind around 30 knots, going well 72 miles Cooked full dinner. Only 1 day from destination. Landed Ile d Yeu 1900 hrs

Sunday
Good forecast, Departed 0930 full sail 5.5 knts over ground, wind died later and m/sailed turned into a warm day. Last 10 miles goose winged.
18.20 entered St Martin harbour Ile d Re, gates open, tie up against Sweden 38 English boat, met by friend Carl from Cambridge in Beneteau 42

Bottle of wine and sleep!

Vernon and Sue came a few days later by car, staying for 10 days.
Going back with them and then back at end of month with Hilary and the dogs on Dewdrop, DD until end October with Hilary flying back and to baby sitting 12 month old Grandson George Henry.

Dave Bayly will return to his boat Jangle around the same time, for the summer +

Good enjoyable trip. Good company, good friends.
