We are a long range towing company, frequently performing ocean towages of several thousand miles. The towing industry is very weather sensitive so we really need to have accurate data at our fingertips when making very important operational decisions en route.
Theyr has proven over several years to be very accurate to within 72 hours or so, frequently more accurate in fact than the Met Office's marine forecasts. The Coastguard issues forecasts but they are far too general - theyr's very specific wind forecasts provide a wide margin of safety for me. I use theyr forecasts primarily for boating on the West Coast of Scotland, though also for walking, mountain biking and climbing. I find that they are very useful and usually highly accurate. The wind speed forecasts are much more localised than the Met Office Inshore Waters forecasts. I routinely make passage planning decisions on the basis of theyr forecasts which would almost certainly be different if I had to rely solely on the Met Office.
I am a big fan of theyr and regularly recommend it to other boating types we meet on our trips.

I have found theyr.com to be my tool of choice. The forecasts are accurate and are constantly updated as more recent information comes to hand. It provides you the ability to run animations of a day in question and filter on and off weather parameters that interest you.
