Terrigal, a delightful holiday town about 1.5 hours drive north from Sydney, is the venue for the 2008 Laser World Championships. The superb climate, open sailing water, beautiful local beaches and excellent onshore facilities will draw hundreds of Australian and overseas competitors to this major
international event. The host club and organising authority is Gosford Sailing Club
The 2008 Laser Worlds consists of two regattas. First is the Laser Standard World Championship, from Monday 4 February to Wednesday 13 February. Entry to the Standard Worlds is by pre-qualification and is limited to 150 of the best Olympic-level Laser sailors in the world. Around 60 countries will be represented and many competitors will be seeking to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
Second is the Laser World Masters Championships, from Friday 15 February to Saturday 23 February. Entry is open to sailors aged over 35 years and races are sailed in various age categories in both the standard Laser and the Laser Radial.
