Sails of White Nights - The National Congress Palace Cup - EUROSAF MR Open Championship
St-Petersburg, Russia

The final day of the Sails of White Nights - The National Congress Palace Cup - EUROSAF Match Race Open Championship was not without surprises as tricky breeze and judging decisions made for a frustrating final day for competitors.
The two semi-finals that were played out between Russian compatriots Andrew Arbuzov and Sergey Musikhin and Italy's Simone Ferrarese and Switzerland's Erik Monnin started later than scheduled.

With both semi-finals locked at one race win apiece the wind died and suspense of waiting for the wind ensued. As the time allotted to the semi-final stage passed a decision was made to cancel the semi-final results and fight for the podium places based on the round-robin results.

This put Arbuzov against Ferrarese and Musikhin against Monnin.

The Russians won their confrontations as Arbuzov defeated Ferrarese 2-0 to take gold whilst Musikhim defeated Monnin by the same scoreline to pick up bronze.
