A contractor has now been appointed to start the marine works as part of the Academy project and wider harbour dredging requirements.

Welsh National Sailing Academy & Events Centre
We are pleased to provide you with this latest update on the excellent progress being made on the Academy project. This is a brief summary of the work undertaken by your Management Committee in advicing, directing and scrutinising the complex and detailed work of the project team.

The Road
The work on the new road will be completed next week following the installation of the new gas connection point.

The New Building
Following the pre-planning consultation held at the Club earlier this year planning consent was granted unanimously on 30th July.
The architects, project team and consultants have progressed with the detail design and the tender process has now started. It is expected that the successful contractor will start the 12 month build programme in January.

Marine Works
It is expected that the marine works will also start in January 2013 following the completion of the environmental impact assessment. This work will involve channel dredging work, followed by maintenance dredging of the marina basin and then the work on the new academy basin, pontoons, quay wall and cranes.

Governance and Management
This work has developed in accordance with our previous reports and the Management Committee recommendations.
Plas Heli Cyf a not for profit company has been established and registered at Companies House and will operate the facility professionally. CHPSC will continue with its role as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC).
We have advertised for non paid, volunteer directors for Plas Heli and the independent selection process, based on an approved skills matrix, has started. It is expected that the directors will be in place by November.

User Groups
There have been a successful series of community user group meetings. We are delighted to announce that funding through the Communities First exit strategy has become available for an outdoor activity community coordinator and this post will be administered by Plas Heli Cyf.
