ISAFs Seminars and Clinics for Judges are intended to improve the standard of regional / group judging and to assist people who wish to become an International Judge. Both are hosted by Member National Authorities. Information about hosting an ISAF Seminar or Clinic is available
here.
ISAF International Judging Seminar
All candidates who are appointed as International Judges must have attended an ISAF Judging Seminar and passed the written test.
An ISAF Judging Seminar must allow for a minimum of 16 hours of instruction followed by the ISAF International Judges Test. Candidates are expected to meet the standards detailed in the Pre-requisites for Attending an International Judges Seminar document. This includes being a certified National Judge or have successfully completed an ISAF Judging Clinic.
Judging Test Re-Sit
Candidates who fail the written examination may take a new test but not within 6 months of the first one, except in special circumstances.
In accordance with Regulation 31.11.1 (a) and (b) seminar attendance and successful test pass are mandatory criteria for first appointment of IJ status. The only context a candidate may sit the test for the first time is within the context of an ISAF Judging Seminar
Candidates who meet the criteria for re-sit in (a) and would like to arrange to re-sit the test, please contact the ISAF Secretariat.
ISAF Judging Clinic
The ISAF Judging Clinics are part of ISAF's programme to develop Judging in target areas of the world.
An ISAF Judging Clinic must allow for a minimum of two days instruction. Candidates should have some experience of Judging. Clinics are based on the ISAF International Judging Manual and a knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing is required. Attendance at a Judging Clinic does not meet the criteria for application for IJ status.
