The Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia concluded over the weekend with sailing gold medals going to Venezuela, Cuba and Puerto Rico, along with the US Virgin Islands' Cy THOMPSON and Mexico's Tania ELIAS CALLES in the ISAF Grade 3 Laser and Laser Radial events.
The six sailing events at the 20th Central American and Caribbean Games took place off Boca Grande. Venezuela's Eduardo
CORDERO took the honours in the Sunfish, whilst Puerto Rico's Enrique
FIGUEROA and Carla MALATRASI where near perfect in winning the Hobie 16 event. Cuba won gold in the Snipe after a close battle saw Jorge TELLEZ CARRILLO and Yudiel SUAREZ MEDEROS come out on top.
Mexico took two gold medals thanks to ELIAS CALLES in the Laser Radial and David MIER Y TERAN in the windsurfing event. THOMPSON provided the US Virgin Islands with their one gold medal of the Games with a confident win the Laser.
