ISAF Annual Conference
Copenhagen

Following the completion of meetings on Wednesday, the first sitting of the ISAF Council, the legislative body of the International Sailing Federation, took place yesterday here in Copenhagen.
The Agenda for the ISAF Council is formed in such a way that the first day of meetings deals with administrative and financial business, as well as receiving reports from the various bodies and working parties that form part of the Federation.

A typically candid welcome speech by ISAF President Paul HENDERSON, who is presiding over his final ISAF Council meeting was followed by the presentation of a number of Silver and Gold medals to those ISAF Committee Members present in recognition of continued and outstanding service to the sport of sailing.

Reports were received from the World Sailing Speed Record Council, the International Foundation For Disabled Sailing and a report on the progress of preparations for the 2007 ISAF World Championships, which will be held in Cascais, Portugal.

Today sees the ISAF Council dealing with the huge number of recommendations received from the various reporting committees. Included in the recommendations to Council are the all-important equipment selections for the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition in Beijing, as well as recommendations ranging from the adoption of ORC Club as an International Rating System to the re-introdution of match racing in the Olympic Games, amongst many others.
