'Acura's enthusiasm and loyalty to the sport of sailboat racing are exceptional,' said Event Director Peter Craig. 'The ongoing partnership with Acura allows us to consistently raise the standard of excellence and make this regatta a fixture on the international sailing calendar.'
'This event is a perfect fit for us,' said Richard COLLIVER, executive vice president, auto sales of American Honda Motor Col, Inc. 'The participants are interested in high performance, quality and luxury, which is exactly what Acura provides. We are committed to help make this new Premiere Racing partnership an excellent experience for everyone.'
Race dates for Acura Miami Race Week 2005 are March 10-13. There will be two racing venues: Biscayne Bay for Melges 24, Etchells and two additional classes, and ocean racing off Miami Beach for larger one design and handicap classes. The Miami Beach Marina is the Official Site, hosting the two ocean courses, while the new Shake-A-Leg sailing facility in Coconut Grove will be the host site for racing on the bay.
The Avalon and South Seas Hotels are the Official Hotels. One design interest is strong and handicap racing will be a major component of the 2005 regatta. Renewed PHRF and IRC interest from past participants and Key West 2005 entrants bodes well for a larger fleet next March. Premiere Racing is best known for its management of the highly regarded Key West Race Week, now in its 18th year. 'Boat owners, sponsors, and the sailing industry have come to expect top quality at our events,' said Craig. 'We intend to apply all that we have learned and experienced to make Acura Miami Race Week an equally outstanding event.'

Founded in 1941, SORC enjoyed a rich history and created sailing legends over the years. The founding yacht clubs recently discontinued their management of the SORC event and reached an agreement with Key West event organizer Premiere Racing to produce a new event that will continue the tradition of great racing in this popular South Florida venue.
