After four years of cancellation, the traditional Horstocht was also sailed today.

Although the sailing conditions were much more quiet, the big cats had a tough competition. After the start of the second race, an incident happened between the teams Kenbeek/Brouwer and Heemskerk/Van Ruitenburg. Heemskerk was sailing port tack and tried to pass Kenbeek leeward. Kenbeek changed position, which resulted in a small collision. Van Ruitenburg hit the stay while hanging in trapeze. As a result, commotion was raised on the beach and Heemskerk was protested. The Tornado-team from Puerto Rico won the first race, followed by the Dutch Van der Plas jr. / Pool with their F18 Cirrus. "We finally found the bootspeed. It is great to be competitive with these guys."

The boys did also well in the second race. "But we were too far in the front, therefore we were bothered by the 20-feet cats. We could not reach the upwind mark and had to tack twice. As a result, Hugh Styles and Micha could get us. We finished as third F18." They are in first position after four races, followed by the Boers brothers with their Nacra iF20 and Styles/Lynch with their Nacra F18.

The small boats had difficulties with the strong current. Hobie 16-sailor Vincent Huntelman: "The waves were strange. We did not have enough pressure to come over them. Every time we got out of balance." He finished the race in sixth position. Dirk Pool called it a moderate day: "Just a bit wind". He had to compete against the Shadow of Tim Swinburn of Germany and the Prindle 15 of Hans Primowees. Texelaar Pool is in the lead after four races, followed by Hans Primoween and Ron Brouwer.

Coastal sailing club Westerslag could finally organise the Horstocht. The last time was four years ago, but today fifty to sixty cats sailed off to Hors. Fresh fish was their welcome. The promo area is in running now. Olympic sailor Herbert Dercksen about the initiative: "We have talked about it for many years, so I am happy that they organized it. The event is not only for sailors, but also for visitors and therefore it is an important addition. With TNG we try to make the sport more accessible, with the big screen on the beach and the Timekeeping system. The promo area links up with that." Booth owners Watersport Scheveningen and Magic Marine kicked off with a mutual clinic for catamaran sailors, given by Gunnar Larsen.
