2003 Mumm 30 World Championship
Portoferraio, Elba
30-40 boats will compete at the sixth Mumm 30 World Championship in Portoferraio, Elba, Italy next month. Competitors will travel from all over the world to test their skill in one of the most successful 30 foot one designs of its time.
This boat is a joy to sail upwind and delivers blistering reaching and running downwind. The Mumm 30 has amazed competitors on the race course with its speed in all conditions and will continue to amaze for years to come.
Measurement and registration will take place from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 October with practice races scheduled for Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 prior to the opening ceremony on Tuesday. Racing will get underway on Wednesday 8 October with three races scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and two races for the final day on Saturday 11 October.
An excellent race committee and international jury has been lined up for the event. ISAF International Race Office (IRO) Peter REGGIO (USA) will bring his extensive experience to the position of Principal Race Officer. John RIPPARD, ISAF International Judge (IJ) of Malta has been named Chairman of the International Jury and he will be joined by Riccardo ANTONI (IJ and IU) of Italy, Neven BARAN (IJ and IU) of Croatia, Michael CLOUGH (IJ) of Spain and Costas TSANTILIS (IJ) of Greece.
