Melges 24 U.S. Championship
Pensacola Bay

Yesterday saw the first four races of the championship sailed in a light 6-10 knot south-westerly breeze on Pensacola Bay.
All four races were simple windward-leeward courses with leeward gates and an oscillating breeze saw much place changing with three different winners over the four races. A steady freshening south westerly saw all the boats ashore before the predicted rainy weather came in.

Race one victory went to Doug Kessler skippering Liberty, with Full Throttle skippered by Brian Porter from Winnetka IL. Both races 4 and 5 were won by the only British entry, Roger Peacocks Black Seal, who got the fourth race in the bag after a fantastic start and first tack took him away from the pursuing fleet.

Race five is due to start today at 11.00 local time, with an unsettled wind and weather forecast. The regatta concludes on Saturday.
