2003 Trieste Nations Cup
Trieste

The fourth day of sailing, at the Nation's cup was characterised by poor weather conditions. It was possible only to race one match, which began at 13:10 yesterday afternoon.
The two teams who sailed were Victory Challenge with the many time Olympic winner Magnus HOLMBERG and GBR Challenge with Andy BEADSWORTH.

After a great start from the British team, the Swedish team was able to surpass them at the first mark. After the first leg, the advantage accumulated to 28 seconds. Despite the continuous efforts from GBR Challenge, Holmberg was able to cross the finish line first, with a 24 second lead. With this result, the British team has definitely been defeated and does not go on to the semi-finals, predicted to start tomorrow.

The first Round Robin will end when the last two matches are raced, which is imperative to decide who goes on to the semi-finals along with Team Alinghi and OneWorld. The remaining matches are among Oracle with Chieffi at the helm and OneWorld driven by Spithill and the second match sees Chieffi again against the Swedish Team, Victory Challenge.

Today's program started earlier than predicted, 9 o'clock being the start time of the first race. This program has been changed so that the semi-finals can begin on the same day. On Saturday, last day of racing, the final will be held to determine the winner of this year's Nations Cup.

For this special occasion, Chris Law is coaching Team Mascalzone Latino. The Italian Rascals have managed to win two races, of which one against Team Alinghi.

Results:

Alinghi, 4 points- OneWorld, 3 points- Mascalzone Latino, Victory, 2
points- Oracle, GBR Challenge, 1 point.
